Favorite Indian food in the area. The lunch special is more than enough food for one person. If you like spice ask for hot/spicy, as this place tends to serve their food a little on the mild side.

The best Indian food in central Florida. Warning, spicy means spicy. If you aren't sure ask, but if you ask for "very spicy" be prepared. The weekday lunch special is an especially good deal. For under $7 I got a tadka dal with some nan and rice. Also comes with mango ice cream as a desert which is a small portion, but the exact right thing to put out the fire in your mouth! You can also get a rice pudding, but I prefer the ice cream personally. $1.50 more and you can add a somosa to your meal. They have a Sunday brunch buffet which in my opinion is a little over priced at around $20. The buffet food doesn't have as much flavor (probably to keep it milder in heat) and so I do not prefer it. Staff is attentive, and the location convenient. A little but of a casual environment, but unless you need a romantic ambiance, I highly recommend this place.

Food was excellent but service was poor. I didn't get my water refilled once. And I didn't get the dessert that came with my meal. Normally I would've asked but it was during the busy lunch rush and it took 10 minutes for them to even give me my check. Which is understandable during rush, but still, it'd have been nice to get the entirety of what I paid for. I'll to back but definitely at a much more mellow time of day. I got the Lamb Vindaloo, spicy, and it was phenomenal.

I typically visit this place during lunch. The day I visited was an introverts dream. I was seated at the back of the restaurant with no one else around. It was quiet and I was able to enjoy my meal peacefully. That also meant the staff didn't visit much either and I found myself a little annoyed when i wanted the spice tray. Oh well, I'd rather have the quiet atmosphere rather than the extra spice. The food is always good. I ordered the chicken kada masala which is very similar to tikka masala. There is so much food on the plate there is no way you will leave this place hungry, even at lunch. A dinner item can be shared with two people if you don't want what is on the lunch menu since there is so much food. Lunch comes with either mango ice cream, which I heard is phenomenal, or rice pudding. Since I'm not a fan of mango, I always get the rice pudding. It's the right amount of sweet for a mid-day dessert, not overwhelming. The staff is personable and friendly. If you have questions about the menu don't be afraid to ask, they'll explain it to you especially if you're new to Indian food. While I've never visited England or India, so I can't say if this is authentic Indian food, it does match up with several of the other Indian restaurants around Central Florida. The only con I have for this place is the location and the decoration. The location is tucked away behind a gas station and the decoration is very drab. You definitely don't come to this restaurant for the scenery.

I most definitely did not expect an Indian restaurant in Lake Mary that is both authentic and delicious but lo and behold Memories of India! FYI this review is solely for the food and not service; not because the service is bad per se but I have just never experienced it, I always order to go! This is a frequent lunch spot for my coworkers and I to grab (Yes, we eat our curry at work, oops) The lunch specials are affordable and delicious! The lamb korma and shakuti are my top two go-to's for lunch. My favorite dish here thus far though is hands down the navratan paneer; soooo rich and soooo good, not on the lunch menu unfortunately! Great find and will continue to frequent this hidden gem!

I hate to say it, but my experience here was not so great on a couple of different levels. I've spent time in London and so I'm familiar with most of the Anglicized curries over there. This isn't it. First, the dish that I requested to be spicy wasn't spicy. The onion bhaji starter was greasy. The garlic naan did not have nearly enough garlic. And the kada curry had very little chicken. Service was slow with many take outs seeming to take attention of the kitchen and the wait staff. Sorry, but I've experienced better.

Walked in got seated right away then waited and waited and waited some more. Noticed them playing with the computer trying to get a movie going on the dining room TV screens. Waited some more than walked out. I hope this gets their attention. Try and picture Person A in a room. Person B walks in to meet Person A. The only reason Person B made the effort to come see Person A was to give him money. Person A ignores and even does other activities even though he knows what Person B is there for and that Person B made a special effort to come there. See why I walked out and gave you the review you deserved?

Great little Indian restaurant in a strip mall. This place is hard to get into from the road unless you make a u-turn, but it's totally worth going out of your way to get there. Sunday brunch is around $14 and it includes unlimited sparkling white wine, the Indian brunch buffet, and dessert. The house salad is great, it is a cabbage salad and this super delish house made garlic salad dressing. The buffet also has chicken kabobs that are so tender and perfect. I believe they are cooked with cream cheese and so tender. The food here is just so fresh and flavorful, lots of attention to detail. There is also an assortment of various curries, vegetarian dishes, tandoori chicken and other Indian food staples. You will have complimentary warm, buttered naan bread brought to the table as well. I really love this place for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is humble and the place is small, but the serving staff are super attentive and make sure your wine glass is topped off frequently. I have noticed this place is greeting more popular on Sundays, so try to get there by 12:30 is you want a table without waiting. This place is a weekend gem and I hope it doesn't get too popular!

Was told by my friends from Bombay that the food was authentic and very tasty. Decided to give this place a try for dinner. Upon entering there was no warm welcome or anyone to even acknowledge us. We were greeted about 5 minutes later by a passing waiter with a curt how many, and an even colder you can sit over there (pointing to an unoccupied section of the restaurant). The server then walked away to tend to other people. We sat ourselves and then proceeded to wait an additional 10 minutes before being acknowledged and had or drink order taken. Another 15 minutes elapse and we finally have our drinks (2 waters and 1 soda) but still not a menu in sight. Finally given menus and order finally taken (a process that took a better part of 40 minutes) the first round of food (naan) finally came just past the hour mark. When it was time for the main course one main came out, with the other two being held up in the kitchen. Another 30 minutes elapsed before the final two dishes came out. Mind you, by the time we had our appetizer and all of our main courses, I counted 8 take out orders come in and out, 3 of which came in and ordered and left before the first main course came out. The quality and quantity of the food was rather run of the mill and lackluster, nothing spectacular or memorable - something akin to fast food, not bad, not great, just edible. While this might be an ok place for take out, it certainly is not a place to come and expect a full service dining experience.

Memories of India (#2) and Tamarind are two of my favorite Indian restaurants in Central Florida thus far. Both places don't shy away from the bold flavors like some of the others do. And this includes the spice level, so order accordingly if you have any particular sensitivities. I've only been here for lunch and taken advantage of their Lunch Thali, but I hope to return for dinner one day. Their Lunch Thali portions are plentiful and provides you with a good sampling of a variety of things, including a Samosa if you so desire (the only difference between A and B options). Service is average and it can be crowded for lunch at times, but we've only run into trouble on one visit. It was one of the Indian holidays and the place was filled to the brim with all sorts of people, including Indians. I say this is a good indication of authenticity. I'm going to have to come here for lunch one day this week now that I've talked about it.

I usually opt for buffets for Indian food because I like to try a little of everything and, because let's be honest. I can never remember the names of he things I like and I'm a visual person. Unless it's a buffet or a picture menu, I'm lost when it comes to Indian food. However, my coworkers were saying how good this place was by our new office, so I heckled it out for lunch today. I'm not going to lie, I was very disappointed that butter chicken was not on the lunch menu. The only way I could get it is if I ordered off of the dinner menu which was twice the price and didn't come with the same goodies that the lunch menu came with. I decided to be adventurous and I tried something new, which was the number eight special. I have no idea what it was called but I got medium spicy heat level and it was spot on! In addition to two pieces of non-and the crispy bread, again the name escapes me, it also came with two dipping sauces, Basmati rice, a yogurt sauce that is like the Indian version of Tzatziki, and dessert. Splurge on their Somosa for the extra $1.50. It was delicious and ginormous! We all got the mango ice cream for dessert and it was really good but the guy also brought out there mango rice pudding for us to try and it was also really good. I've never had bread pudding before because it kind of scares me, but I have to admit, it was not bad. It was like a sweet cottage cheese. Shaan Indian Buffet in the same plaza is my go-to place, but this is a very close 2nd! It was very good and I'll definitely go back!

They have a great lunch menu and quick service. The lunch entrees are a good size and come with either mango ice cream or rice pudding for dessert. My favorite is the lamb kada masala. My husband usually gets the Chana masala. Our favorite dessert is the mango ice cream. It's a great way to clean your palate and cool your mouth cuz when you order spicy it comes really spicy, but that's how we like it. On Sunday's they have a really nice brunch buffet also.

Travelling for work, I was looking thru yelp to find a decent restaurant to eat that was 5-10 mins from the hotel--and found this place so decide to give it a try. Being from Central NJ, I was skeptical about how good the indian food in Orlando can be--but trusted the yelp reviews and this place didn't disappoint. As I walked in, I realized that the wait staff was not indian which was odd (yes - I am that person who judge food based on who works there. Do you want indian person making your pizza ?) Their complimentary papad with all 3 indian chutney was fresh and authentic so that assured me that rest of the food is going to be great. For appetizer, we ordered sizzle plate which included goat kabab, chicken tikka and tandoori shrimp--all of it was delicious. We asked for more of the papad but asked to roast it instead of fried--and they did it pretty quickly for us. And for main entrée, I ordered chicken curry with onion nan (ask them to make it spicy with indian peppers)--and it was the best indian food I had in a while--and this is coming from the indian guy who lives in central jersey which is mecca of the indian food. They do have a full menu here so there are lot of items which can be bit confusing or overwhelming but ask the wait staff for help & they will make recommendations. The wait staff was very friendly & warm so service was great. If you are entertaining the idea of a desert, try the Gulab Jamun! If you are in the area/around, I highly recommend you to go here and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

I am always happy with my experiences with Memories of India in Lake Mary. I generally get the lunch special, always option B because who can say no to a samosa. The lunch special is always big enough for me to eat off of it twice and comes with rice, your choice of main dish (today I ordered chicken korma), naan, a few sauces, a samosa if you get option B, and a dessert which is comprised of rice and a mango substance though I don't know what it is called all I know that it is my favorite part. A previous coworker of mine from India once told me that this restaurant had the most authentic food he had ever had outside of India. If that's not a great recommendation, then I don't know what is!

I could eat here everyday and not get sick of it. I probably will eat here everyday and not get sick of it. Holy shit. I find myself at a loss for words right now. Maybe it's because my belly is still full and blissed out from stuffing my face full of navratan korma. I went for lunch and it was $7.50 for a plate full of fucking ambrosia. Everything was perfect. So perfect. I am so happy right now. The food made me HAPPY. Just take my word for it.... eat here. JUST EAT HERE. YOU WILL UNDERSTAND. If you don't eat here you're missing out on something truly wonderful and your stomach will never forgive you. It doesn't hurt that they were playing bollywood videos on the television either...that was great. And the service was excellent. Very nice people. This place is magical. MAGICAL.

Go-to take out spot in Lake Mary. I'm so happy this place is around the corner from me because it is my go to when I do not feel like cooking. Their food is wonderful, and the dishes I highly recommend are the Chicken Shakuti , Navratan Korma, Paneer Makhan Masala, Butter Chicken Makhani, and the Roganjosh. ITS ALL SO GOOD. I usually go with a medium spicyness, and if you dine in you get some tasty flatbread with relishes as part of your meal. Celiac Friendly: Most of the food here is GOOD TO GO. We get take-out here all the time, and as long as you dont order anything with breading (careful on some of the vegetable dishes like Aloo Gobi) or the Naan/etc. you should be in the clear.

Yes! YES ! YES!!! OMG, this is one of the best meals I have had in a while. Everything was perfect, and the lunch menu is small so I don't have to think too much about what to get. The restaurant is nice and clean with impossibly beautiful people on the TV. I was expecting a lunch buffet for some reason, but really prefer the lunch menu with everything on one plate. OMG, it's so good. There were actual East Indians dining there when I visited, and that's always a good sign. Cannot wait to go back.

The food here is usually great. My complaints stem from the quality of service. Lunch usually isn't bad but the few times I've been here for dinner, the service has taken forever. Last night we waited about 15 minutes just to be seated when there were about 6 open tables. The waiter was very short with us and kept walking away and took forever to bring refills of water (which were a necessity with how spicy the food can be). If they could just read some of the reviews on here about their service quality and make some improvements this place could be a real gem.

  • Gail K.

Worst service!! Are these men waiters? They need training and a sense of urgency!! Waited for someone to come to the table to take our order for at least 15-20 minutes and only because I got up and waylaid a waiter. Of course I also had previously got up and taken the menus and handed them to our party of 3. There was no one to greet you at the door and the menus were at the front where in most restaurants there is a hostess to greet and seat you. There were people waiting for a take out order apparently for quite a while. When a waiter-host came up to me bypassing a couple that had been waiting quite a while I had to tell him they were there before me. Finally got seated and then the real wait began!! The order in food came quickly and it was good quite good actually. My daughter was so aggravated because she wanted more water and another glass of wine and another beer for her boyfriend and no one came to our table. Had to again wave our waiter over then we got our refills. This type of non service is appalling. I for one not going back. I will drive down to Moghul for great Indian food and equally great service!!

This might be my favorite restaurant, period. It's amazing. The staff is helpful and friendly and likes to joke around. The food is great. Their lunch menu is smaller and very easy to pick from, in the form of different combos. The dinner menu is more open and doesn't come together all one one plate like the lunch. Both are excellent. The lunch style gets you in and out quick if you're there on a work lunch break (plus it comes with mango ice cream dessert). They have a plethora of vegetarian options. The Chana Masala is one of my favorites for that. The Chicken Saagwala is to die for. Perhaps my favorite meal of all time. Also, I have not had better rice than what they serve at Memories Of India. Great great rice that just completes the dish perfectly. Bottom line..if you enjoy Indian food, come here. This is one place you won't forget.

Memories of India is a decent Indian restaurant, but it's not any better than the other ones in the area and the wait time is generally much longer. Their cilantro chutney is delicious and the chicken curry is pretty good, but there's nothing that really sets them apart.

Best Indian food in Florida! I love this place, and so does my spice-loving fiancée! If you are brave, you can have everything spiced "Indian hot', but beware, it burns! They have waiters constantly refilling waters all over the place. The service here is always excellent, the seating is intimate, and the prices are good. When you sit, they bring you free papadam and several homemade chutneys and sauces to choose from - try the green stuff, it's delicious! As far as the dishes, my favorites include the fish tikka, which is served sizzling with onions and lemon on a hot cast iron. I also really enjoy the malai kofta, and any of the paneer dishes are great. There is unlimited basmati rice for any meal. Don't forget to get some naan, the peshwari naan is especially delicious but all of them are good. I really like the cheese naan. I like to wash all that good food down with a nice mango lassi. It's really great if your mouth is having a fiery party. Overall: try this place unless you hate good food.

I tend to make it a point of not eating out at Indian restaurants for obvious reasons - I can cook it and am pretty darn good at it, if I may say so. That said a girl does need a break once in a while? My attempts of satiating my gluttony take me to Memories of India in Lake Mary. There are 3 simple reasons I occasionally visit Memories of India. For the Sunday brunch - At @13.95 a plate with unlimited champagne (cheap version), it is quite a bargain for the variety offered. Butter Naan - Now I can make most Indian breads at home with great success in my own professional grade Viking oven, yet I can't reproduce the effect a Tandoor has on the infamous Naan. Mango Ice cream - I can always buy this at my local Indian grocery store but where is the fun in that? At Memories all I do is eat and the rest is all taken care of. The staff per se is gracious and attentive; the décor and ambiance not much to speak about. The food tends to have hits and misses based on how obliging the cooks are on that day. Today, the cooks seemed to have bestowed their love and attention to the Cottage Cheese and Peas Makhani Curry. (That was the only dish I took second helpings of). The Saffron Chicken was juicy but I couldn't find the Saffron in it? The Tandoori Chicken as usual was too dry. The curries were mildly flavored, which is a smart thing since the clientele is suburban at this location. Over all, it filled our hungry bellies. But then, I do tend to have higher expectations from Indian food since I was raised in Delhi and have an extremely personal affinity with most regional cuisines of the country. I will be returning to try out dishes from their al-a carte menu too. (One can't truly judge the quality of a restaurant solely based on mass production of a buffet).

  • Grant V.

The food is amazing, and the service is typically excellent. I especially love the tandoori offerings on the sizzling platters. They make a very appealing presentation and the taste does not disappoint. The garlic naan bread is superb as are the complementary papadums. Make sure that you request a booth. The chairs are not the most comfortable seating arrangement but the booths are always excellent. The parking lot may look scary but it really is quite safe and the food is more than worth it.

My favorite place for Indian takeout! Their lunch thalis are delicious and come with a lot for around $8-9. I like to get the chicken vindaloo but the lamb is good as well. It's a brownish gravy with potatoes and pearl onions that comes with rice and a few sauces to change the flavors of each bite. It also comes with naan bread for soaking up all the good stuff! Their kheer (rice pudding) is addictive and I have dreams about it sometimes. I've taken less than adventurous eaters here and they've always been happy they tried it, so if you're looking for a great first experience of Indian food, Memories of India is where it's at!

  • Marty H.

Have been for lunch several times and it's better than your average Indian place. Combos are a good choice and they'll bring you extra-hot sauce from the back. I need to try it out at dinner for comparison.

One of the best places in the Orlando area to get authentic Indian cuisine. Lunch specials are priced reasonably and they have a great Sunday brunch as well.

I was turned on to this place by co-workers a year ago, and I have been coming regularly ever since. The food is unbelievable! I always end up in a "Memories coma" after savoring their delicious meals. My favorites are the shakuti and vindaloo, which are always prepared with the perfect mix of spices. Everything tastes fresh, from the rice, to the naan, to the chutneys. It's all just so good. The staff are always warm and friendly. The atmosphere is dimly-lit, and they play Indian music videos on the TVs. Dining in or taking out, it's always a treat to have Memories. I love this place.

Living in Tampa Bay but growing up close to The Curry Mile in Manchester I tend to always feel a little deprived when it comes to certain flavors and Indian recipes offered by our local restaurants. This little jaunt to Orange county confirmed that there is hope for me if I'm prepared to drive a couple of hours or plan restaurant visits if I'm pasing through. Text book perfect Papadums, Oinin Bhajis and Samosas and a great relish trray to start with the best onion relish I've had in the USA (beware if you can't take heat). Went off my normal standard test and tried the Vindallo and the Tikka Masala. Though not my favorite examples of either dish (knew I should of ordered Indian Hot) nothing to stop me visiting again.

  • Corrupting K.

The food: delicious. This was actually the first time I went to an Indian restaurant that wasn't a buffet. I don't remember what I ordered, but do remember the Samosas were HUGE. And tasty. The entire meal was yummy and the naan was very fresh. The rice pudding at the end of the meal was some of the best I've ever had. The service: odd. Slow and odd. We went a good 15 minutes, mid-meal waiting on water. The food was spicy, the water would have been super helpful. That said, I'll be back. The food was outstanding.

I was very pleased with our experience at Memories of India. The chutneys served with Papadum were a tasty and fun start to the meal, my Chicken Tikka Masala was outstanding, and the Naan was great as well. My friend and I both had enough leftovers for a full meal at home the next day. Highly recommend!

My wife and I have been regulars for 7 years. The food is amazing and the service. We were introduced to the restaurant by an Indian co-worker who said the food reminded him if his grandmother's cooking. I highly recommend coming. The restaurant and its bathroom have undergone recent renovations.

The Sunday champagne brunch is really amazing! I was never confident enough to go into an Indian restaurant and order off the menu, so when we spotted this brunch, it was the perfect way to sample various dishes without risk. My fears that the cuisine would be too spicy were unfounded, and I found many things to love about it. They have salad with a tasty homemade dressing, basmati rice, chicken vindaloo and lamb most every week with several other dishes that are different from week to week. Our favorites are mutter paneer and tadka dal. The sauces and flavors are fabulous, and if they have a spicier dish, they always notate it. Very delicious with mango ice cream and rice pudding for dessert. Don't hestitate!

  • Chris H.

I wasn't sure if I should go here because of the mixed reviews. But I have to say, I was very surprised at how good the food was. I had the vegetable samosa and the lamb korma- hot. Of course, it was nice to wash them down with a few Taj Mahal beers! I love the Kingfisher too, but Taj is just a tad sweeter and a better pairing with the spiciness. Since I have sampled Indian restaurants all over the US and Europe, I was skeptical of an eatery in Orlando. Don't be. Everything was great. Even the "hot" was just right. A nice heat on your tongue but your mouth is not burning an hour later. Will definitely go back when in the area. Only reason for the four stars is the decor is nice but not lavish.

Very quaint little indian restaurant. Very friendly service and great food. The butter chicken with onion kulcha is my favorite here. Very consistent in quality and service. The mixed grill entree they have is also something to try if you are not big into indian food like I was. It sort of eases you into it so you have a bunch of stuff to try and its more than enough for two people.

My husband and I tried Memories one Friday night after I read all of the glowing reviews. I've never been to India so I understand that I may not have an accurate idea of authentic Indian food but I have eaten it in several states and abroad and I LOVE the flavors, the indredients and the freshness. When we walked in at 7pm on a Friday, it was completely empty. They seated us and we ordered. The server was a nice guy except that he kept walking around outside smoking cigarettes. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and saag paneer as those are my barometers when I try new restaurants. When the food came, everything was super greasy, the masala wasn't creamy, it was pooling with oil and even the naan was super greasy (none of which I've experienced before). And the flavor was awful! I'm sorry, maybe it was just a bad night since everybody else seems to love it but I just can't see spending money on that again. I couldn't even eat it, which may have been noticed if our waiter hadn't just left in the middle of our meal. Didn't say anything, just left. We had to flag someone else down just to get our bill and get out of there. Overall, the worst experience I've had in YEARS.

I can't say enough great things about this place. I come here for lunch all the time, as I work just across Lake Mary Blvd in the Primera complex. The lunch specials are priced appropriately for the service, quantity and quality of food you receive. Dinner is a bit more expensive, but I still venture up from downtown to this location since I'm familiar with it, and the staff seems to recognize my ugly mug when I walk in now, which is a nice touch. I pretty much always get the Lamb Vindaloo at this point. I've had this dish at 4-5 different Indian restaurants, in various places in the country, and I can't say that anyone comes as close to perfection as this. The only complaint I have is I'm (more accurately, my stomach) not a fan of onions, and there are 5-6 cocktail onions in the mix. I always brush them aside and blow my complaints off as me being a picky eater. As of last week, they've repainted and slightly renovated the dining areas. It's not a major change, but great to know that they are investing in their appearance, and constantly striving to improve. There's usually only about 3-4 different servers, and two (who I assume are managers or business partners) who are always there, and are very friendly and courteous. Never have I been to another establishment where sentences have started with "Sir's" when dining with another male co-worker or two. "Sir's, can I get you something to drink?" It's a touch of class not seen in American restaurants. It's going to take a lot to make me choose another place in town as my most frequented restaurant. Hema's Kitchen in Chicago comes close and has a better atmosphere than this place, but the food is the best in Lake Mary, Florida!

Very nice flavors, good size portions, and excellent service. Clean restaurant, and a nice interior that is hidden from the street due to the mirrored windows. Papadam crisps served with coriander, tamarind, and chili sauces as appetizers. I had the Lamb Biryani-saffron flavored rice with nice chunks of meat in the mix. Comes with the cucumber and yogurt Raita to top off. They can adjust the level of heat to your liking-so no need to suffer with too spicy food that is unpleasant. I also ordered the onion, cucumber, tomato side salad with the right amount of lemon juice tartness. The Mango Lassi drink was a cool, refreshing complement to the savory dishes. Excellent food quality made it a good value.

$13.95 Champagne Sunday Brunch, The Naan is awesome and most of the food is pretty tasty. Its a small place, so sometimes you have to wait but the Mango Ice Cream is worth it.

Excellent, delicious, yummy...! We had the lamb korma and palek paneer, with naan and rice....so good! Service was good, atmosphere nice. Definitely recommend this place!

Very inconsistent , like many other Indian restaurants they seem to discriminate guests. Don't ask for drinks, though desert was part of buffet you need to ask for it. Samosa were horrible in the buffet. I like the other memories of india at turkey lk location much better.

Been several times since.. always solid. If Indian places were Ghostbusters, this one would be Bill Curry. Sorry.

Excellent restaurant. One of the few places I'll get lamb at because it's never "gamey". I usually stick to the vindaloo but I've liked it all. One thing that really set them apart.. we were trying out hand at some Indian dishes at home and asked wanted to buy some extra mint chutney instead ok making it. They gave us a larger container of it and gave us the recipe of theirs as well. We keep talking about trying the new place around the corner but end up at "why bother".

Awesome India food! I've had Indian food around the world and this place is one of my favorites. There lunch is the best deal and you get tons of food.

Always want to dine here when in Lake Mary. Mmmm vindaloo . . . All I can really say is YUM. Give it a try, even if you've never tried Indian food, this place is amazing!

Good food in a bland atmosphere. Lamb vindaloo and keena nan is a favorite cooled by a Kingfisher beer.

Always spot on, Memories never fails to please. The food is rich and delicious. I've taken friends here who hadn't eaten Indian food, but are now fans. Plenty of variety, and a great deal for lunch. If you like it spicy, request it that way and you won't be disappointed.

Met a friend for lunch and had my usual Shrimp Masala. The service is quick and attentive and the mango ice cream at the end is a treat. The food is good, but not great, and still many steps above the other Indian restaurants in the area. Tip: The restaurant and the plaza look like they are currently being renovated.

This is our favorite Indian in town. The only thing keeping it from five stars is the chutney. Everything else is excellent.

Seriously...the B-E-S-T Indian Cuisine restaurant in Central FL. We always come here and receive the best service. Here are the dishes you must try: lentil soup (yum!), garlic naan (double yum!), Lamb Roganjosh (holy jeez is so good!), Lamb Madras (oh baby!!!), and Lamb Korma (HC now I'm hungry!). Clearyly, we are lamb people but I have also tried the chicken curry and Dal Makhani. You can't really go wrong here. All you have to remember is that Indian food has LOTS of flavor, so if you are not into seasonings and heavy flavors then you might be in the wrong place.

HANDS DOWN the best Indian in Orlando. The Lamb Vindaloo is so good with some Naan...Sorry, I had to wipe the drool from my mouth, I think I'm going there tonight. Granted the interior of the restaurant needs a little love, don't let that put you off. The food and service is ALWAYS great!

Good Indian food at moderate prices. It has the full repertoire of Indian dishes, and they all come out at a consistent good quality. Some spices, and thus flavors, are a bit lacking though, compared to Indian food in India Town in New York and New Jersey. Portions are very good as well. 3.5 stars, but I don't have that option :)

The chicken Vindaloo and chicken Biryani here are phenomenal. The Samosa are pretty delish as well but my go to dish has to be the spicy Vindaloo. It is rich and delicious, especially during the winter (you know the 3 or 4 cold days we get around these parts lol). The location itself doesn't stand out from other strip malls very much, but it is definitely worth a try.

I have been at several Indian restaurants in at least six different states and this place has some of the best Indian food I have tried. I did a take out for my family so I cannot comment on the service. The packaging was done thoughtfully, using right types of containers. The food was authentic and tasty, something not every place can achieve. My grandmother loved the lamb biryani and she is very picky. Biryani is supposed to be served with a yogurt side to cut the heat but I haven't seen any place, except this place. Another chicken dish was very flavorful and delicious as well. The portion size is very generous. I initially thought the prices are high but the quality of food justified the price. Biryani for example had several pieces of lamb. I will highly recommend this place.

I'm kind of surprised at the favorable reviews, honestly. I found it to be a mediocre experience at best. Stopped in on a Saturday night, the place was busy on arrival, but by the time I was eating my entree (about 8pm) the place was half full at best. LOCATION Good enough. Right off the freeway, a little hidden back off of Lake Mary Blvd, but overall not too difficult to locate. The entrance is a bit odd, kind of hard to tell where to go in, but all in all easy to find. ATMOSPHERE The greeter's table was cluttered with all sorts of things, with the menus precariously balanced on the edge. The two tables closest to the greeter seemed to be reserved for staff to complete work? The next batch of Papadam (they offer it as a free starter here) was in a big basket on one table. Another had silverware and napkins on it. We were seated at a booth. The window clearly hadn't been washed in ages, and the shades were covered with grime. Don't dare look between the booth and the wall, there's a nice half-inch of filth gathered there from no doubt the last few years. Even the table only seemed KINDA clean. The bathrooms were "clean" in the liberal definition of the word, but not anyplace I'd want to sit down. And the paper towel dispenser is one of those "we'll give you two inches" jobs where you have to use it 16 times to get your hands dry. Great. SERVICE It started out well, the server seemed very attentive while taking our drink orders, app orders, and entree orders. After that, the good service vanished. My glass was left empty for 15-20 minutes at a time, once our order was taken he was pretty much done with us, as far as I could tell. From the time we ordered our food to the time the entrees showed up, over an hour had passed. After our app, we waited and waited and waited for our food, as well as refills on our drinks. Neither happened quickly. FOOD I can see why they offer the Papadam for free. Parts of it were stale, parts of it greasy and laden with oil. Started with the vegetable pakora. I'm used to kind of a mash of veggies crafted into a rough ball, breaded and fried. This was more akin to Vegetable Tempura Indian-Style. It was overcooked, chewy, and the green sauce served with it was an odd and bland version of what I'm used to. Also sampled was the Palak Paneer. Very mushy, and kind of flavorless. Mild shouldn't equal no flavor. Lastly, I tried the Malai Kofta. The dumplings were practically pureeed before frying, lending them zero texture, just mush balls. Yuch. The Naan we ordered seemed like it had been sitting out a while. It was tough and really chewy. OVERALL This was the first and last time I'll try this place. While Orlando isn't exactly a mecca for Indian food, there are a number of good choices such as Woodlands. I can't imagine why I'd ever visit this place again. Filthy, poor service, mediocre food. Meh. No thanks.

Pretty good. I liked the lamb vindaloo, it had a good flavor. I just wish they made it as spicy as I asked (and how vindaloo is supposed to be). My husband's chana masala was also good. The garlic naan was perfect, and surprisingly, hard to find done well in Orlando. Just a few misses: I didn't like that the menus felt kind of slick and dirty, like there was a greasy film on them. The decor is also a little weird, especially the random pictures they have on the televisions (Including pictures of Cinderella's castle and screenshots of what seems to be Microsoft Flight Simulator). However, the food made up for it. I don't live on the north side of town anymore, and while this place is good and worth a try, I'm not terribly disappointed that I won't be back.

This restaurant was the worst Indian restaurant my husband and I have ever been to. The 3 sauces that came in small bowls with the appetizers, had clearly been used by someone else! We both ordered different kinds of lassi--which tasted rancid. The samosas and pakoras tasted fine, but the spinach kofta entree was nasty. It didn't have any of the normal saag flavor, but was sludgy and unpalatable. The cheese naan tasted fine, but was made with cheddar cheese. I've never had cheddar cheese at an Indian restaurant before. It lacked authenticity in a big way. We saw three of the staff while we were there: one Hispanic, one Asian, and one African American--no Indians! My husband said as we left that it was the first time in a long time he was actually worried about getting sick after leaving a restaurant. Thirty minutes later, he was spending the rest of his evening on the porcelain throne. Koohinor is our tried and true restaurant in the Orlando area. Next time, we will not stray! This is my first time reviewing on Yelp. Our meal was so bad, I joined Yelp just so I could warn others.

Stopped by Memories of India, tonight, which used to be our go to place for Indian food. I am a big foodie, so I like to interact with the Chef and staff. I asked the waiter, if it was not too much trouble to ask the chef (if they weren't busy) what ingredients he might put in a beet root fry. It was a slow night...just a few tables. This is not an item that they have on the menu and I am working on an Indian flavored Beet burger. The waiter came back with the smart aleck answer. The dish has beets in it and they are fried. Okay. A snotty chef. Not my favorite but nothing new. After that encounter, the food was delivered and I found a big black hair on my plate which at first I thought was a crack but when I touched it, I realized it was a hair. I asked for a new plate and said the food was fine because I knew the hair was only on the plate. The food had been served in separate metal dishes. These things happen, I thought and was as nice and polite as I could be. This is where it gets weird. The lady at the table directly behind me started talking about me to my waiter. And, he chimed in and agreed with her. She said how tacky I was for bring up the hair and that I asked for a new plate. She and the waiter discussed how I should have just brushed the hair off the plate. Weird. She was sitting directly behind me. Well, this was awkward. So, I asked for my check and the food to go. While he was getting the check , the lady continued to talk about me...really weird. I was very uncomfortable and completely lost my appetite. I then let the waiter know that I was no longer interested in the food. I thought it a little strange that they not excuse the bill, all things considered. I paid the bill even though I did not eat the food. I will not be returning. On another note, the only thing I tasted was the potato paratha and it was extremely greasy.

this place used to be good once, but not anymore. the taste of the food has changed for worse. the waiter seems not interested in helping or serving. i ordered a medium spicy chicken vindaloo, instead i got what tasted like raw chicken with potatoes in curry. the price is over the hill for the quality of the food. we ordered other food this night also without good things to say about it either. sorry but i wont be going back :-(

Best place for Indian we have found in the area. The food is very authentic and flavorful. Service has always been excellent and you can usually get a table with minimal wait. The restaurant itself could use some upgrades as it is slightly disheveled looking. We also use it for takeout after a long day at work and it has always been very good. The onion buhjia, chicken tikka masala and paneer saag are some of our personal favorites but i'm sure all the dishes are good.

I am not the most experienced person with Indian food by any means, but I've had it at several places around Orlando, St Louis, and NYC and this place has been the best to me. It is pretty reasonably priced - $12-15 entrees - with a lot of choices for lamb, chicken, vegetarian, all that. It's never packed, but always has a steady volume eating in or getting take out - I once overhead a large Indian family saying they had driven down from Savannah, GA just to get the food there. That's gotta say something. Everything I've eaten there has been either good or excellent. The Baingan Bharta (eggplant and veggies) is incredible, and I don't even like eggplant. Gotten a lot of their chicken dishes too, and all are good. The spicy curry is very spicy, so stick to mild/medium or hot unless you really want spicy. It's great, I wished I could go more often. Definitely a 5 star to me.

Went once for lunch. The wait was long and the service was only okay. We ordered hot masala tea - but by the time our entrees arrived they still didn't have it made. The service wasn't that great, the server seemed to help a table of extremely bossy and needy people that came in after us and ordered after us, but they got their food before. For a lunch meal - the value was good. I went another time later for dinner. When we arrived there was a sign on the door that said the water was out and they couldn't serve any kind of tap water/tea or sodas. It was slightly strange that they didn't' offer us some kind of discount or bottled water for free. The quality of the food for dinner is WAY WAY WAY better than lunch, but you are paying almost 3 times as much. The meal was slightly expensive considering the issue with the water, so I'll probably only bother going back for lunch.

Great place for lunch. Normally ethnic food can get expensive for dinner so lunch is your best bet. I've originally been to the original Memories of India at the corner of Turkey Lake Rd and Sand Lake Rd. This one is called Memories of India II. I've experienced many other Indian restaurants to compare and this place is by far my favorite. Great selection for lunch, over ten items, and all around $8. I normally get the Lamb Vindaloo. The main feature that I like, is that with your main dish you get sides other than just white rice. Included are nan, poppadoms, and samosas. I believe they let you choose mild, medium, spicy and extra spicy. Extra spicy really is extra spicy. After the meal they offer a choice of mango ice cream or rice pudding (included). So basically it is a three course meal! Lake Mary is extreme north, and Sand Lake is extreme south, so hopefully the follow their successes with a central (downtown) location. If you give them what they want....they will come. I love a win-win business solution!

Memories of India is phenomenal. I've gone twice now with my boyfriend who works within a stone's throw and frequents Memories for lunch. On both visits, I've had the Lamb Vindalou (mild!) which comes with a bowl of basmati rice and papadum beforehand. Papadum is an extremely thin, crispy flatbread type Indian amuse bouche. The vindalou is delicious and at the "mild" level of heat has just a hint of kick. The lamb is tender and flavorful. The sauce itself is savory without being salty. It's a toss up, though, whether the food or the service is better. The same gentleman has waited on us both times and provides five star service. A drinking glass never even reaches the half empty point before it's refilled, and we were checked on several times. Memories of India has been such a great dining experience, I only wish it was closer to the Baldwin Park area since it's a bit of a hike out to Lake Mary for dinner. Even so, it's definitely worth it!

I introduced my wife to Indian cuisine from Memories of India shortly after they opened and we've been eating there continuously since. My wife's favorite is their Chicken Tikka Masala, its hard to get her to choose something else. As long as she's happy with it, I'm not rocking the boat.

I have really never had Indian food before, I have had dinner at this place twice now, and both times the food was very good. I really enjoyed my experience there. The place is small, less than 70 seats at best, it had maybe four employees working on a Saturday night, so the service wasn't very fast but the food was well worth the wait.

Checked out this place for the sit down lunch yesterday. I've gotten take out from there once before. Very good food. A bit of a long wait and seems like they're understaffed for the lunch rush. Our waiter appeared to be East Asian (Chinese, Taiwanese?) but for some reason was very familiar with Indian food. I tried to ask him, but couldn't get his attention. Wish they had a buffet here so you could just walk in and start munching. That and the wait are the only reasons I don't give it 5 stars. A very worthwile experience if you're in the mood for Indian in the Lake Mary area.
